PSL Valuation Process Set to Transform Pakistan Cricket Landscape by AUG 2025
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to valuate the assets of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to decide the next course of action, sources told Geo News on Saturday. This development came a few days after the PSL management, under the leadership of CEO Salman Naseer, conducted debriefing sessions with key stakeholders, including franchise representatives, the title sponsor, media rights partners, and commercial affiliates, at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) here.

According to the details, the valuation process encompasses all six franchises and commercial rights, as major decisions regarding the participating teams, title sponsorship, and broadcasting rights are likely to be made ahead of the next edition of the marquee league. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a tender on July 12, with applications expected to continue to pour in until July 28. Based on this range of responses, critical decisions will be made regarding the future direction of the league.
Prime discussions are centred on the league’s financial model, including sponsorships, broadcast and media rights. These talks are likely to take place during the governing body meeting that was reportedly set for the last week of August. Considerations for the inclusion of two new teams have also been reportedly made, as the league currently features six teams, including Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, and Multan Sultans.
Each team would play the other teams twice for a total of 30 matches in the regular season. The addition of two more franchises would bump this number to 56 regular-season matches, providing more opportunities for fans to catch their favourite players in competition within the tournament itself. This expansion could significantly boost revenue, with industry experts suggesting a 25 per cent increase in expected fees under new contracts.
The PSL management provided comprehensive data and analytics during the debriefing session, showcasing the league’s upward trend over the previous ten years. A comparison of the league’s ninth and tenth editions was also presented, demonstrating notable advancements. After the thorough valuation process is finished, franchise owners are now notified about the brand value evaluation.
Reflecting on a decade of progress and impact, CEO Salman Naseer highlighted how the PSL has evolved into a globally recognized brand, stating that the 10th edition of the marquee league shattered several records, including viewership. The substantial growth in digital engagement, particularly the 647 per cent surge in live streaming, serves as a testament to the league’s increasing popularity among cricket fans. He emphasized the rapid rise in digital consumption, noting how fan behavior has transformed over the years.
